Curve is the Word

Sure, custom framing is generally thought of as being all about the square – but we framers have plenty of opportunity to get a round! Trends in home decor today are incorporating more round objects and soft edges in furniture, mirrors and wall decor. But another great way to add in a sprinkle of circle flavor is with a rounded or circular custom frame choice.

Circles bring a sense of completeness and a sense of movement to a design. Adding a few round elements as an accent softens and relaxes a room. Too many sharp edges and straight lines can create a feeling of too much order and a sense of inflexibility.

Here are the high-lights of some Bella and Prisma frames that will help you keep ahead of the design curve.

DUOMO

Named for the grand domed cathedral in Florence, this half-round collection in silver-leaf is the epitome of soft elegance. Perfect with portrait or wedding photography and ketubahs.

APOLLO

The color palette and curves of Apollo appeal to mid-century modern aficionados. This is as round as a square frame gets. In fact, we secretly call this profile the “baseball bat”. Apollo also has a smaller cousin in the same half-round profile as the Duomo.

MARCELLO

Our Marcello half-round profile in hammered metallic tones is reflective and cinematic. Picture classic Marcello Mastroianni and the cobbled streets of Roma in “La Dolce Vita”.

TAPPO

While Tappo is Italian for cork, no wine was harmed in the making of these frames. The faux cork finish wrapped over a soft curve are the perfect way to add some romance to a room.

PRISMA

There are several ways to work a circular shape in with a Prisma frame - from polka dots and rounded corners to a complete circle shaped frame.

Round shapes are even important in the feng shui concept of interior design. Feng shui is about balancing five elements, one of which is metal. The metal element is expressed as a round shape in decor; and round design elements are believed to bring clarity, precision, freshness and equality into a room.

Think outside the box and round out your client’s interior design with some circular shapes!
