Fall 2021 Creations Winner!

CONGRATULATIONS to KRISTA and WADE

of Wade Maxx; Upper Montclair, NJ

“There is nothing random or erroneous in DABSMYLA’s work; it’s planned and executed with the precision of a diamond heist and with the charm of a Technicolor world.”

We are loving this colorful artwork and descriptive quote from the artists’ website. Seems like the team at Wade Maxx was perfectly able to channel that same precision and charm when creating a beyond-custom custom Prisma frame design which was selected as the Fall Creations Design Winner.

Krista and Wade have that dream customer who has the eye and passion to build a contemporary art collection and who gives the team at Wade Maxx pretty much carte blanche to imagine the perfect frames for their acquisitions. This image titled “Golden Memories” is the fourth release from the Australian husband and wife team Dabsmyla and follows a current trend of circular contemporary art prints. This can be a challenge for the frame shop as there are not so many frame options available in custom sized circles.

Krista and Wade’s customer trusts their taste and knew they would do the right thing by this limited edition print and only gave them direction for a simple frame profile and circle shape.

Since hand-painting frames is “kind of her thing”, says Krista, she started imaging possibilities for a Prisma circle. The image is busy and fun so her first thought was applying a leaf pattern. In the end she chose to mimic the starry night sky to compliment and not overpower the artists’ intent.

This is the first time this particular client has purchased a Prisma and the first time Wade Maxx has done a custom paint treatment on acrylic. In addition to perfectly placed “stars”, the frame is painted in a four color ombre effect which had to be done in reverse and took half a day to execute.

For a modern and clean look to preserve paper art, Wade and Krista have always enjoyed working with acrylic boxes to fully “encase” a piece of art. The possibilities and precision of Prisma have expanded their acrylic framing solutions. When the customer came to collect their finished piece, Krista was able to dramatically reveal her fantastic creation. Of course, the customer was blown away with the result.

Wade Maxx is no stranger to custom framing with the “unique and super cool” Prisma frame line or even handling circular art. They appreciate the clean and modern look of Prisma combined with quality manufacturing. “When customers are shown Prisma, they want the look in their homes”, says Krista and Wade. “Prisma gives the home a fresh look and something fun to look at.” One final piece of advice from our Fall winners Krista and Wade, “Prisma - everyone should try it at least once!”

We would also like to congratulate the Fall semi-finalists. Mike Menasco and Mary Pattavina. Amazing work!

Congratulations again to the whole creative team at the Wade Maxx locations in NJ and NYC. Krista and Wade are the third entry for the 2021 Creations Grand Prize - a trip to the WCAF trade show. Since the world is still in flux and we don’t know exactly if that will be, the grand prize will convert to $1000 cash money! Who will get the big bucks? It won’t be you unless you enter! Be sure to photograph your next Bella or Prisma triumph and submit it for the Winter Creations call for entries coming up in early November!
