New Moulding for 2015 – A Closer Look
Bremen reminds us of intricate fairy tale illustrations, in particular the drawings of Arthur Rackham. Rackham’s work is described as a ‘Nordic’ style strongly influenced by the Japanese woodblock tradition of the early 19th century. Consisting of a scoop and cap profile, our Bremen’s look is made with durmast oak veneer stained in a muted palette of romantic storybook colors like weeping willow, brown thicket and black cinders. The particular grain quality of the veneer creates a rich texture of crevices and cracks to complement engravings, line drawings or anything calling for texture.
Capofila - Starched White Executive Taupe Lined
Capofila is Italian for “the head of the line” or the “leader”. This collection’s prominent accent lines are clearly the design behind the name. Capofila comes in four on-trend neutral shades of grey and white. Capofila is very much at home in any corporate space. It’s one of the more masculine looks in the
Bella line. The cap profile is deep enough for man cave collections of matchbooks, golf tees or pipes. The warm tones of grey and retro-curved shape are well suited for vintage photography.
Century - Copper Blush Mid-Century
Century first made its’ appearance in 2013. For this season we’ve added a mini update of the largest profile and named it the “mid-century”. The Century line is evocative of the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair otherwise known as “A Century of Progress” which celebrated color and lighting. The fair was a testament to the scientific and technological achievements up to that time and a look to the future.
The Century of Progress Exposition was an unheralded success and hosted over 48 million visitors.
Our Century honors the future that was envisioned by those revolutionaries from the past.
Duomo - Rose Silver Leaf Half Dome
Duomo refers to any Italian cathedral and its dome. Our collection includes five hand-finished silver-leafed half rounds in tones that mimic the multi-hued stone exteriors of those fine cathedrals.
An advantage to the Duomo profile is the deeper rabbet depth with a slim and trim face width.
Gelato - Pistachio Scoop
Gelato is a line of 8 tasty scoops inspired by Italian ice cream flavors. All scoop profiles are leafed and then delicately hand-finished with several layers of patina in a rich Mediterranean color palette.
The cloud-like texture created by the multiple layers of hand-finishing is brilliant paired with watercolors. These are perfect for framing travel souvenirs brought back from a trip to “the boot”.
Indus - White Heron Gold
Indus comes in six colors that transport us to the peace and quiet of a Tibetan temple deep in the Himalayas. Fans of our Shimmy collection will be enthralled with the similar look of Indus. The quality and finish are similar but the detail here runs vertical along the length of the stick like a long river. Indus is particularly suited for ethnic textiles.
Shetland - Medium Musket Grey Silver Fleece
Shetland is made up of three cozy neutral tones inspired by the natural colors of sheep’s wool. Shetland has the air of a shabby-chic cottage but is also at home in a contemporary loft.
The finish is a simple and comforting neutral cream, grey or brown paint with silver or gold foil accents. Cuddle up with one today!
Shimmy has been such a popular line that we’ve added five new colors for 2015. You can now “shake it off” in a blue denim, warm cabernet, chic champagne, chilling chartreuse and an exceptional ecru. Who can resist the excitement of a frame named for a burlesque dance move and with a finish like the stage lights reflecting off of swirling fringe and teasing tassels? Shimmy has a nostalgic flavor from the era of silent cinema and flappers doing the Charleston. The finish is silver metal leaf with multiple layers of hand-applied paint adding depth and interest.
