Spring 2022 Creations Winner!
CONGRATULATIONS to BRANDI DICE
of The Art Lounge ; Spartanburg, SC
We are loving all the “fabulous and sensational” designs we received for this installment of the Creations Contest! Wow - you are doing some great work out there! Our panel had a tough time this go around selecting the winner.
We are thrilled to announce a plentiful and sweet “congratulations” to Brandi Dice and The Art Lounge of Spartanburg, SC. Brandi’s design has been selected by our private panel of judges from the three finalists determined by the popular vote online.
When this art came in the door, Brandi knew right away this piece needed a Prisma Frame. The art is a very rare print by the artist SHAG inspired by the original classic film starring the great Gene Wilder, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Art Lounge’s client is a big fan of the film and received the print as a surprise Christmas gift.
Released in 2019, the foil edition is one of only 45 printed - half with brown mountains in the background and half with purple mountains. Their client is a collector of many fun things and loves whimsy, clearly (pun intended)! She wanted to be surprised by the finished project so she allowed the team at Art Lounge free reign to create something special. Brandi did let her know they would be going with Prisma to allow the unique and rare art be shown in a one-of-a-kind, unique frame.
Playing with the Prisma Visualizer, Brandi and the team at Art Lounge started with some ideas on frame shape and then worked through a list of possible colors they thought would complement the art. Next, they added in a pattern. Given the “busy-ness” of the art and the plentiful colors and shapes to draw the eye, Brandi knew the frame needed to bring a good balance to complement the art, not to compete or distract. After some back and forth, they settled on the great design we see in the photo.
This is not Brandi’s first rodeo with Prisma. Brandi has used Prisma for many things including a .007 comic book, custom mirrors, Cuban art and anything that is screaming for that “out of the box” special look. Art Lounge has used single color and sanded finish frames for sophisticated looks, patterns for texture or graphic effects and floaters for canvas’ and mirrors.
Brandi says, “I love how many options are available! Having the Prisma Line in the gallery is a perfect fit for our clients who are looking for something different and wanting to make a statement in their homes.”
In fact this Willy Wonka piece is now hung as the main focus in the office of their client. “People know when they enter her office space, they will be greeted with a big smile,” says Brandi. We’re smilling too, Brandi!
We want to send a big shout-out to the other finalists as well, Adrian Morales at Jay’s Frames in Texas and Kristen Ling at A Framer’s Touch in Oregon!
Congratulations again to Brandi and The Art Lounge! Brandi is our first entry into the 2022 Bella Creations Grand Prize Competition for a trip to WCAF or $1,000 cash!
Who will win that? You’ll have to stay tuned to find out. (It could be you.) Be sure to photograph your next Bella or Prisma Creation and submit it for the Summer Edition coming up next month!
