Winter 2022 Creations Winner!
For our final Creations Contest winner of 2022, Anna Eastman of Scott Frame and Art combined her love of coffee and framing to give this vintage magazine advertisement the colorful framing it deserves, including a stroke of genius in using four different colors for each frame leg.

Tell us a little about the piece.
This is a framed Maxwell House Coffee advertisement out of a magazine from 1948. I bought it from an antique dealer and knew it belonged on display in our frame shop!
Did you have any specific thoughts for how you wanted it to be framed?
I wanted the frame to feel like an extension of the art, which is why I decided against using any matting. I knew I needed to find a frame to celebrate the classic primary colors that were just jumping off of the page.
Does the piece have any special meaning or backstory?
The piece itself represents my journey as a framer. I worked in a coffee shop through college and wished, but never expected, that I would find a job in the artistic community. After graduating a year ago, I moved from South Louisiana to North-West Arkansas, found my dream job at Scott Frame and Art and have grown so much personally and professionally. Bold colors and coffee have been basically a part of my identity, and to see both in a frame that I designed and built fills me with gratitude!
Why did you select the moulding and framing combinations?
There were four main colors used in the picture: red, blue, yellow and green. That combination felt very classic to me and I pulled the red, gold, blue, and green Raku Kintsugi frames to see which complimented the piece most. For a unique twist, I decided to incorporate all four colors- one for each frame leg.
Any reasons you love this particular frame?
I chose to use the Raku Kintsugi frames for several reasons. I have always loved the multicolor, metallic finish. They have a luminescent glow about them without being too shiny or reflective. The line detail adds a subtle flair without being too overpowering. And their modern shape gives a contemporary feel to the antique piece.
Where will you display this piece?
The frame will be showcased in our display area as an example of the endless options our customers have whenever you combine creativity and high-quality framing.
As a framer, what inspired you about this project?
I wanted this antique piece to feel funky and relatable to our downtown Bentonville community. It is a very colorful and creative city, so I felt at liberty to use bold colors while staying true to the vintage piece.
Congratulations again to Anna and the team at Scott Frame and Art! Anna is now our fourth entry into the 2022 Bella Creations Grand Prize Competition for a trip to WCAF or $1,000 cash!
