New Bella Winter 2020 - Tizon & Tappo
Our 2020 new collections launch is now available for sampling! We debuted four completely new lines plus fantastic additions to Cabaret and Tappo at the WCAF in January. Enjoy exploring new options in colorful metallics, medieval inspired textures and sophisticated veneers. There’s something to thrill everyone and most importantly to thrill your customers.
Today in our final post we've got two lines in a neutral palette. Grab a handful of the earth tones of Tizon and sample two new vintages of the wine cork inspired Tappo collection.
TAPPO
Tappo is the Italian word for a wine cork. No actual corks were harmed in the making of this collection. The original Tappo line introduced over 5 years ago, consists of six on-trend neutral colors of vinyl wrapped over finger-joined pine. This means you can raise a glass and toast to no seams, no imperfections and no finish variations to spoil the party.

For 2020, we’ve added two new options in a half round profile and natural cork tone. Peeking through the natural holes in the cork material is a hint of either gold or silver leaf.
This new Tappo is top shelf. The hint of metallic dresses up the already chic cork - an effect that can be found in modern wall treatments and other accessories.
We look forward to seeing how you choose to use Tappo but one of our favorite applications for this new metallic cork is to frame fine dining menus.
TIZON
Tizon is the indigenous word for the natural clay found in the Colorado riverbed. For help with the name I reached out to a family friend who is a member of the Wualapai tribe in Arizona. With Raku, this is the second Bella collection with a reference to ceramics. It is influenced by my father, a ceramic artist, and his obsession with the ceramics of early puebloan cultures. We took several family trips throughout the Southwest to visit Hopi and Navajo villages, tour ancient cliff dwellings and discover prehistoric rock paintings. On one trip my father gave a ceramic demonstration at the Wualapai Cultural Center. In return, we were escorted to private areas on the reservation near the Grand Canyon down on the banks of the mighty Colorado River where the Tizon is dug. Words cannot truly express the beauty, grace and calmness that resonate in a place that sees so few humans.
The Bella Tizon is comprised of a cap and a block profile of birch veneer stained in earth tones ranging from a creamy white clay to red sienna to a muddy black.
As with most veneered frames, there will periodically be join lines along the stick. The joins are very straight and crisp and in most instances, somewhat hard to see. The staining does a lot to blur the lines, but the pickiest of picky customers should be made aware.
Both profiles are deep enough for a standard canvas. Tizon is well suited for natural interiors, botanical art and contemporary prints. The subtle swirling smokey texture and shifting monochromatic shades created in the birch woodgrain work well with prints and etchings or any piece with subtle color variations.
