New Bella WINTER 2025: Il Mare
New Year, new Bella. What would a start to 2025 be without some beautiful new frames to get you psyched for a new year? We’re thrilled to be introducing two brand new lines, and just in time for the WCAF Expo January 24-26 in Las Vegas.
To kick us off, dive deep into the Mediterranean sea to discover Il Mare.
MEET IL MARE
Inspired by the beauty and significance of the Mediterranean sea, our brand new Il Mare line (or “the sea” in Italian) has no shortage of inspiration points in this vast body of water - from the vibrant colors to the sea creatures to the beauty of the lands surrounding the sea itself.
For the non-aquatic scholars out there, the Mediterranean sea played a significant role in the history of Western civilization as it was an important route for merchants and travelers alike that facilitated trade and cultural exchanges between regions. Fun fact: the Roman Empire is the only state to have ever controlled all of its coast and that allowed it to maintain nautical hegemony for centuries.
Today, it is one of the most populated regions on the globe with countries surrounding it and its marginal seas ranging from Spain, France and Monaco to, of course, Italy. The Mediterranean name comes from the Latin term “Mar Medi Terraneum” - meaning “sea in the middle of the land.”
This sea in the middle of land was the perfect launching point for our first collection of 2025, given its symbolism of creativity, wisdom and the love of people and nature. We hope you’ll find plenty to love in the line’s 16 new mouldings, ranging in sizes from a ⅝” face, to 1 ½”and 1 ⅞”.
The slimmer half round profiles offer sea-worthy colors such as Golden Grouper and Luscious Langostino, while the bolder 1 ½” faces come in hues such as Amethyst and Aegean Blue Tidal Wave.
But the real showstoppers are the 1 ⅞” Corallo with Gold frames that provide speckled sea glory in colors such as Blushed Shore, Turquoise Cove and Salted Ivory.
We loved using these to frame three dimensional sea-inspired items like urchins, as well as graphic black and white prints. And while it’s a no-brainer to use on projects that are all things nautical like coral reefs and sea creature prints, there are really no rules on how you can use this unique line to inspire the same creativity and wonder of the sea.
For as Jacques Cousteau said: “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” We hope Il Mare does the same for you.
