New Bella WINTER 2024: Vasari

New Bella WINTER 2024: Vasari

In case you missed it, we kicked off our series of new 2024 introductions last week by inviting you to meet Trulli. This week, we are transitioning to the artistic jack-of-all-trades Italian genius of Giorgio Vasari, the principal inspiration for our new Vasari line.

MEET VASARI

In order to meet Vasari, you first need to meet Giorgio Vasari. A prolific and eclectic artist, Vasari was an accomplished painter, architect and writer who enjoyed great prominence in Florence in the 1500s.

Considered one of the most important Medici court artists, Vasari traveled in top artistic circles including Michelangelo, Rosso Fiorentino and Vittore Ghiberti. A favorite of Cosimo de Medici, Vasari was commissioned to work on almost all construction sites in Florence including the Palazzo Vecchio, the Hall of Five Hundred and Studiolo of Francesco I.

One of his better known feats (and a can’t-miss stroll if your travels take you to Florence) is the Vasari Corridor. One of the most mysterious and interesting places, it was originally built as a secret passageway to connect the Medici’s Pitti Palace residence to the Palazzo Vecchio - the center of Florentine power. Fun fact alert: in Dan Brown’s Inferno, art history professor Robert Langdon escapes from soldiers who follow him through the Vasari Corridor.

We’ve brought that same eclectic versatility to our new Vasari collection with both a bolder 1 ½ winged profile and a slimmer 1” cap look. The color palette is simple yet elevated - the Vestibule Black with gold rubbed lip cap makes a striking companion to classic fine art, but it would also be an amazing dichotomy to frame more modern, abstract pieces in.

Meanwhile, the Monumental White and Vaulted Greystone both have a silver rubbed lip cap that we love paired with classic pieces like portraits and sketches. However, in the spirit of Giorgio Vasari’s diverse talents, this line was made for pushing boundaries.

We can’t wait to see how his artistic brilliance inspires your own!
