Fall 2020 Creations Winner!
CONGRATULATIONS to AUSTIN & ALTON
of LIONHEART CUSTOM FRAMING; Atlanta, GA
This flashy blinged out rock poster with custom Prisma frame was selected as the winner of our Fall Bella Creations Contest. Congrats to Austin and Alton; co-owners at Lionheart Framing. Their shop specialty is creating one-of-a-kind frames for their clients and it appears that two heads are better than one!
This limited edition variant Gov’t Mule poster, belonging to a music aficionado customer, is printed on holographic foil paper. The client is an avid poster collector and has a ton of great prints that will be excellent future projects. This piece presented an interesting challenge with it’s complex and visually dense imagery. The client didn’t want to overwhelm the poster but was open to pushing the boundaries of design.
Because of how elaborate the print is, they decided to keep the mat neutral. After talking through a series of options, they wound up on a custom Prisma frame. The wavy Cascade Prisma pattern added a visual texture that matched the flowing hair details in the print. Going the extra mile, Alton did some internet sleuthing and found an exact match foil paper for the print. The foil is shown in an open v-groove to help strengthen the relationship between the artwork and the frame.
The client was very happy with the overall effect of the finished piece. He was impressed by the color matching they were able to achieve with the frame and the specialness of the holographic foil.
Below are a few examples of other rock posters that have received Lionheart's creative approach to ultra-customized designs in matting and/or framing. It is a pleasure to highlight a shop bringing such unique visions to life for their clients. You can also check out their previous hand-painted Bella Creations win from Summer of 2018 here.
Lionheart says they have used Prisma frames to great effect before. “There's really nothing else like them. The combination of customization and the nature of the material creates an extremely unique look that works well with a variety of art. We've framed memorabilia, screen prints, even a painting or two in the Prisma floater.”
We asked Alton about the ease of selling Prisma and he says he would encourage experimentation with the Prisma Visualizer at the design counter as a great sales tool. “Also, customers have a much easier time understanding how unique and interesting Prisma frames really are if you can point to previous examples of your work using the same techniques like a gallery sample in your shop or posts on Instagram. Lastly, don't be afraid to push boundaries!” says Lionheart. Rock and roll.
Congratulations again to the dynamic duo at Lionheart who are the third and final entry this year for the Grand Prize. Since a free trip to Las Vegas is inadvisable at this time, the usual grand prize has been changed to $1000 cash money! Voting will open for the Grand Prize in the New Year. The popular vote will take the prize, so your voting participation is super extra important! Who will get the big bucks? Spring, Summer or Fall?
